Connie Prescott's Son - Cameron Gonzalez
Many of you may have read, or viewed television news broadcasts this past weekend about a tragic accident involving four young men from Apopka, who were pushing their disabled vehicle off a dimly lit road in Apopka late Friday evening, when they were accidently struck from behind by another vehicle, resulting in the death of two of these young men.
One of these youth was Cameron Gonzalez, the 18 year old son of Connie Prescott, assistant manager of our Scout Shop in Apopka. Cameron was a senior at Apopka High School, who always had an infectious smile on his face and befriended everyone he met. He was a promising athlete and an avid baseball player.
Although our collective arms are certainly wrapped around Connie, comforting her at this very difficult time, the family is struggling financially to meet the immediate needs for his funeral and burial arrangements. I have established a special account to receive contributions to assist the family through this difficult transition. If you are interested in contributing to this emergency fund, checks may be made out the Central Florida Council with “Cameron Gonzalez Memorial Fund” in the memo or online at http://cameron.cflscouting.org/.
The Funeral arrangements for Cameron have been confirmed, the viewing will be held Friday March 7th from 6:00 - 8:00 pm at: Baldwin-Fairchild - 601 North Park Ave. Apopka. The Service will be held Saturday March 8th at 11:00 am at: St. Patrick's Church - 6803 Alt Route Route 441 Mt. Dora
Please keep Connie and her family in your prayers.

If we can meet both our Membership and/or Brotherhood conversion goals by the end of the month we can get $50 each for pizza! We can do this if everyone will go to tipisa.org and pays their dues or attends the Brotherhood event at Spring Conclave. There will be no chapter Ordeal this calendar year so we can only meet our membership goal through dues payments. Please ask the chapter chief or adviser if you have any questions.

Wood Badge Fall 2014 S4-83-14-2
September 19-21 and October 3-5
Wood Badge is the most advanced leadership training course in Scouting! In this course, Scouters learn practical leadership skills in a lecture-practice format. The skills taught are applicable to every leader and provide a common foundation for Cub Scout, Boy Scout, and Venture programs. The first part of the course utilizes a classroom environment and practical exercises to teach the essentials of leadership. You’ll learn what makes leadership “work,” and how to make it work for you and in your unit. Later, a combination of classroom and outdoor settings help you learn to apply those skills to make you function better as a team. Finally, you will have an opportunity to state your goals as a leader and put into motion a plan to achieve those goals.
